JFC was one of the best new shows I have seen in years. Sadly though, it has been cancelled. It is unfortunate HBO did not think about giving this show somemore time. I prefer watching the reruns to some of the other crap on TV.
August 30th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
I totally enjoyed the show and if there was any way to convince HBO to put season 2 on please contact me to post or email a request!
August 30th, 2007 at 7:26 pm
As the other two on this site noted, I enjoyed the show. I guess today you can’t have something that makes the mass public think too much, or it will be cancelled. It needs to be spoon-fed in small bites or the typical television viewer will hurl.
August 31st, 2007 at 3:17 pm
Agreed. Someone at HBO needs to “…grab their jump balls” and push for this to move forward. The unfinished storylines will soon make viewers wary of getting invested in the new shows and characters.
If JFC was likely to be cancelled, some extra time could have been spent around writing a more fulfilling ending. The one we got did little more than set up the next season (which is now not happening). Great show HBO, bad decision.
A still loyal viewer who is getting impatient

I agree with the above and with the guy on the other blog who wants to read the script!! How dare them leave us hanging like this!!! I would like to buy a copy of the entire script for the next season.Of course, the geniuses at HBO (not you, Chris Albrecht) don’t know a marketing opportunity when it hits them in the face. They should be embarrassed by these blogs and by the God-awful decision they made in dumping out their subscribers by cancelling what was actually a phenomenon!!! And now they’ve created this thing and they don’t know how to take advantage of something called a “cult following.” How do these guys keep their jobs?

I LOVE John From Cincinnati! It is the best thing I’ve seen on TV in a very long time. The characters are brilliant: both the main characters and ALL the supporting roles. Finally a show that is unique, quirky, and interesting. The cancelling of JFC is a crying shame. What is HBO offering me to replace JFC? Certainly not this new show with Jane Alexander (although I do like most of her work) about a therapist and all these couples with sexual problems!? PUUHHLEEEEEZEEE. The critics who have panned JFC demonstrate, once again, that they are not in tune with the thinking audience and cannot get past their own provincial tastes. I sincerely hope that JFC comes back for Season 2, but I don’t think the suits at HBO care about the audience. Sad, but true.
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:44 pm
One by one, all the shows I most enjoyed are gone. And now JFC? Why am I still paying for HBO at this point? To watch a bunch of lame movies I didn’t want to see at the theatre? I don’t think so. If they stand by the decision to cancel JFC, I will cancel HBO.
September 3rd, 2007 at 5:14 pm
I am really bummed that John has been canceled. I think it is one of the most creative and interesting shows that has come out for a long while. Maybe a movie or book could wrap up the hanging plot line?
September 4th, 2007 at 3:21 pm
hbo is nuts for canceling this heartwarming show, yes, heartwarming. it took too many seasons to see the characters develop and becoming appealing in deadwood. jfc brought the flaws and vulnerabilities of it’s characters to the surface right away. i loved them for that. although i guess they left cissy out of that game plan. this show has more story to tell and i would love to see another season to flesh things out. no one needs all the loose ends tied neatly but but this is too soon to let go.
bring back john. by the way, what else does jfc stand for?
September 4th, 2007 at 10:50 pm
SEE GOD HBO….BECAUSE I DON’T GOT MY EYE ON YOU NO MORE!!!!
taking john off the air is the last straw…I can’t justify wasting my hard earned dollars on the shows you keep on the air when you toss out the best show since the sopranos.
I really miss looking forward to sunday nights with the yosts. some things i know and some things i don’t and what i know is that hbo is losing subscribers with this stupid decision.
September 4th, 2007 at 11:31 pm
Please bring back JFC!!! This “Surf Noir” is a tour de force for the TV genre. It is by far the best show on HBO or anywhere. Everyone I talk to about JFC enjoys the storylines, the performances and the time each week to ponder the message and direction of each show. I have talked to many folks in the biz and we all agree it is a cult classic!
Come HBO…step up to the plate!!!!
BRING BACK JFC
September 5th, 2007 at 1:45 am
Oh dear the critics don’t get it. We’ve just begun re-watching the series for the third time - it just keeps getting better. This is not a TV show it’s a 10-hour movie that demands attention and a second and third screening - at least. It’s way out of sync with what a critic is programmed to expect or deal with. Watch it, enjoy it. It will live for a long time. At some point a clever critic will look up from her latest sadly cynical review and smile saying, ‘I don’t know Butchie, instead.”
September 5th, 2007 at 3:54 pm
Although I did get into JFC what pisses me off more than its cancellation is that JFC was the cause for Deadwood to be canceled. I don’t know who is running the ship but it sure seems like they have no balls. To date the most successful HBO series was 6 Feet Under which at least HBO had the intelligence to finish off with (IMO) the finest series finale ever written & filmed. But this crap of just canceling shows without warning does lead me to agree with an earlier post (eventually we’ll learn not to trust HBO’s new series for fear of getting “left on the alter” Luckily I’ve got Showtime and they’re having a ball with “Weeds” and “Californication” which are both a “Bang!”

Does everyone know about the Survey HBO is doing. Go there and vote for JFC. spread the word on the wall.

“Hear the words of my Father” Please bring John back to our homes! This show kept me coming back for more.Listen to the words of your viewers!!
September 10th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
No season 2?!?!??! HBO is being soo rash. The show was spectacular and brilliant. It kept me guessing, thinking, pondering, and i never missed an episode. Its a shame that all the common TV viewers missed the uderlying genious of this series. There was never a show, and never will be a serious as awe-inspiring and intriguing as John. HBO listen to us!
September 10th, 2007 at 2:05 pm
HBO is not in the game. HBO needs to grab their balls and not get back in the game. JFC is huge! JFC is a brillant show. Ed O’Neill and Brian Van Holt deserve an Emmy. How is our message being conveyed to HBO? Do these comments get forwarded to HBO? What is the difference from this Show your Support blog to Help Save JFC blog? Either way, we need JFC on HBO.
September 10th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
If you’ve been rewatching JFC in ON DEMAND, you know that it is no longer available. What is available on HBO ON DEMAND? That stupid show with Lisa Kudrow (spelling? I’m not a fan) “The Comeback”?!! Also “Sex in the City” which is constantly running on every second rate regular network! What’s up with HBO?
September 12th, 2007 at 1:16 pm
I LOVED ‘JOHN FROM CINCINATTI” AND CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY IT WAS CANCELLED. YOU HAVE TO BRING IT BACK. INSTEAD YOU PUT ON THE MOST STUPID SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN ‘TELL ME YOU LOVE ME.” GET RID OF THAT ONE AND GET OUR “JOHN BOY” BACK
September 12th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
WHY ARE RERUNS OF THE COMEBACK STILL AVAILABLE? WHY DO WE HAVE TO BE SUBJECT TO THE IDIOCY OF TELL ME YOU LOVE ME, A RIDICULOUS SOAP OPERA. ENTOURAGE WHICH USED TO BE GOOD, NOW IS JUST SAME SHIT DIFFERENT DAY, NOTHING EXCITING ANYMORE. BUT AN INTELLIGENT, THOUGHT PROVOKING SHOW, LIKE JFC ISN’T EVEN GIVEN A CHANCE AND ISN’T EVEN AVAILABLE ON DEMAND ANYMORE. I HAVE ONLY ONE THING LEFT TO SAY, “I DON’T KNOW BUTCHIE INSTEAD.”
September 12th, 2007 at 5:43 pm
Don’t cancel John, it was the only show on TV that I thought made any sense, in a fantasy, non-reality TV type of way.
September 15th, 2007 at 9:18 pm
This show is smart, and everytime I watch it I actually feel challenged, interested and happy. Its ridiculous that it would be cancelled especially so soon. I thought it was intriguing and incredibly interesting. They should NOT cancel this show.
September 17th, 2007 at 11:51 am
Are you kidding? JFC was the best show since the Soprano’s. That being said they will never listen to us
September 17th, 2007 at 8:51 pm
Not everyone thinks outside the box. And thats O.K. But to be influenced by such people (The New Yorker) would be a mistake. JFC was original, funny and quirky and it required its viewers to think. Perhaps that was its death sentence. If HBO does not have the vision to renew JFC for another season at least have the common sense to make Season 1 availabe on DVD. Perhaps those sales may convince some critics that they just don’t get it.
September 20th, 2007 at 12:32 am
I was very disappointed to learn another of my favorite shows, John from Cincinnati, has become a member of the cancelled show list.
I know I am not alone, when I say: I enjoy using my mind while watching a show. I dislike reality tv…..find it very boring and silly.
Now, not only is this show cancelled, it was also taken off of the In Demand channel.
If the majority of the public today do not enjoy shows like this….would it possibly be considered to continue making episodes of this wonderful show, and sell it on dvd?
It is very unfair to leave a dedicated, paying audience hanging.
September 24th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
HBO has been doing a good job bringing television entertainment to a higher level. JFC was right in line with other series it had produced. I enjoyed watching the show, and frankly the only reason I keep subscribing to HBO is becasue of programs like JFC. Maybe there was a problem with the season HBO decided to air it. I thought that summer was NOT the time to air new shows. I was never able to watch an episode during one of it’s scheduled times. Thanks to on demand I’m all over it.
HBO - I know your competing for my watching time with the YouTubes, networks etc. You’ve always managed to take it to a higher level… don’t stop now. I was convinced to write on a blog page for the first time because of JFC.
Sincerely, Les

I am with all the other bloggers here. I was enthralled with the show, and really looked forward to it every week. I’m sure it was a big problem giving it the same time slot as the Sopranos, and to have it follow so quickly on its heels. But why not give it to us on one of the other channels, like “HBO for Intellectuals” or put it on late when it originally airs.
And I am a similar target as Les, Married, white 43 hhi 250K+

I can’t believe the show got canceled. My wife and I love the show. I don’t know what else to say. Hey HBO…I GOT MY EYE ON YOU!!!
October 10th, 2007 at 12:56 am
should have known..the one show i get into (post deadwood)
and the big wigs cop out. JFC’s one of those things kinda like being a deadhead (or a deadwood head as well)..you either get it or ya don’t. i got it. i wanna go on tour..
follow the set..watch the reruns a million times.hell it could be the second dvd i’d ever buy..(deadwood the first).given the state of the nation;JFC sent me a ray of hope(i stll miss jerry) and now i miss milch too. if hbo drops JFC i just have to drop hbo.
October 22nd, 2007 at 12:29 am
too bad you cancelled the show ! It was great. I watched all the episodes. It was great to have a show that was non violent unlike the sopranos etc. Can you rethink your decision ? Lets not continue the dumbing down of america… thanx Martin Nelson

I’m with jill - JFC stays with me all week, working through the intricacies of what was going on keeps me from screaming in the dark from the intense world of social services. Here it is almost Thanksgiving and I’m surfing for more info to help curb the fever.
November 25th, 2007 at 11:08 pm
This show was an experience to watch-to sit down and relax for that hour and know you’re in for a ride unexpected things the unknown where no other person has been to put this in the public eye-people made enough effort to put up a petition hbo you must have been doing something right when it was aired so why take it off-it is different so what-in our society today this show was something new something fresh-be known for it instead you chose normality put it back on please
December 2nd, 2007 at 1:10 pm
I loved the show. Please bring it back.
December 3rd, 2007 at 9:42 am
Well, HBO has completely taken the show off now. It’s not even being shown as a re-run on HBO2. A great show. So many terrific performances. This is ridiculous. Please bring this wonderful show back.
December 4th, 2007 at 1:51 pm
I just caught the show on-demand from my cable company and am sad to read that it will not be returning…I hope we can get it back …at least to find out the rest of the story…
this happened before with Dead Like me and Carnivale…both great shows and we’re left wanting more!
February 22nd, 2008 at 3:08 am
The only reason I got HBO was to see 2 shows I really enjoyed, John from Cincinnati and Deadwood. Now that they have been both canceled I can save money by canceling HBO all together. Thanks HBO!!!
March 8th, 2008 at 10:05 am
John from Cincinatti was the only intelligent drama left on TV after the Sopranos. Cancelling it is a ridiculous decision. Time to cancel by subscription to HBO.
March 19th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
I have been waiting patiently for season 2. Now I will never be able to properly come to a conclusion.
April 1st, 2008 at 9:57 pm

April 13th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
HBO you suck in every way! you take the best show off the air for what? its to dark? well if thats the case then you should have canceled all your other shows as well. listen to your audience. JFC has a cult following you retards. stop listening to these retarded conservative critics and stay true to you fans!!! as of now i have ended my relationship with your stupid channel.
April 13th, 2008 at 9:41 pm

April 29th, 2008 at 10:53 am
I Just dumped out.
now what?
June 8th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
What a damn shame…the actors really just started to click and momentum was building and then…..wtf!!!!!!!!! If people are still interested in a show you canceled over a year ago it’s time to reevaluate
June 8th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
I was actually shocked when this show ended. Right when I was so so into it.
I would love to see it come back.
June 18th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
Of course a briliant show like this would be cancelled. What other writer out there has the talent and the balls to create new language for the world he creates. I predict this show, for all its oddities, will become a true classic.
