This was a beautiful show and should have been allowed a second season. Writing was topnotch and the acting was incredible! This will be a cult video..

Canceling this show is a crime. The characters are so amazing, the acting is brilliant. The hour goes by so fast it feel like 5 minutes. How can you cancel a show when we haven’t completely figured out everything yet?

John From Cincinnatti was the highlight of our summer. Awesome writing, one of the best ensemble casts ever, the show was simply so far ahead of anything on TV, we looked forward to it all week. It feels like a friend has died. Why does HBO keep shooting itself in the foot? We expect HBO to have the guts to let a show like JFC find its audience - give it room to grow. This is why we pay the big bucks for HBO! Bring back JFC!!

Kate Says:
August 15th, 2007 at 10:45 pm

John From Cincinnatti gave us a reason to turn on the TV on Sunday nights. So now you’ve cancelled two shows (JFC and Deadwood) with great writing & great casts. What mindless garbage will you give us instead? Adios, HBO.

Steve from Brooklyn Says:
August 15th, 2007 at 10:56 pm

An intelligent intellectual show that kept you guessing. Morality, spirituality, reality and the supernatural. John deserves another chance. “Mother of god Kass Kai”……..

Jen Says:
August 15th, 2007 at 11:16 pm

This show is absolutely brilliant. If HBO is worried about ratings, they shouldn’t have launched the premier in the summer but waited until fall. I can’t believe they cancelled this as it was the best series running on HBO. Please give John a second chance and give me a reason to keep my subscription. HBO “grab your jump balls”!

Dan Says:
August 15th, 2007 at 11:27 pm

Bring it back!
Beautiful story and cast just getting going!
Bring it back!
Great characters, great themes!

JC Says:

HBO, hang loose and give this show a chance. The cast is top notch, the actiing is superb, and the story line is like none other. Let the 0’s and 1’s speak in Cass’s camera because the internet is huge, just like this series.

Survivor wasn’t going to make it, American Idol was a goner…Suits make mistakes too…Just give it another shot!

jason novak Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 12:07 am

JFC took me over this summer. It took nerve and patience and awareness to get into this show, qualities that HBO is quickly losing touch with. The writing was unlike any show I had ever seen, the spirituality bubbling beneath the broken exteriors of its characters is subject matter i have waited a lifetime to watch in a series.

HBO is proving itself no different than the rest of the behemoths out there. Not to give this show a second season, out of simple respect, is a tragedy. How bold to even broadcast it, how typical to pull the plug.

Somebody get Zippy over to HBO pronto… you know.

Joe C Says:

Matt Reid Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 12:57 am

I’m not surprised that HBO canceled its best series. Its HBO policy under-promote and then cancel all their best shows. I’m tired of HBO getting me hooked into a great show, and then canceling it. So I am now going to cancel my HBO subscription.

Entourage may be flashy with its celebrity cameos but JFC has real substance and will be high on my all-time favorite list from now on.

HBO, I am canceling my subscription and I will renew it when you renew John from Cincinnati.

Cynde K. Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 1:01 am

I ordered HBO for the first time in more than 20 years SPECIFICALLY so I could watch this show. It’s offbeat and quirky - exactly what I love about it! I couldn’t believe it when I heard it was cancelled. BRING IT BACK!!!

Iain Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 1:04 am

Don’t pull the plug. This show could be big. Don’t jip the subscribers that have invested themselves in this beautiful program.

Bob K Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 1:12 am

Please bring back JFC,the characters are too interesting to ditch them like Deadwood was.

John's Dad Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 2:50 am

Greetings!

Hello. I am John’s father. I tried to tell him when he left on this little adventure of his, but hey. Kids right? I tried explaining to him that if the only original words to come out of his mouth were, “See God”., and “By your words you will hear my father.”, they just wouldn’t get it. Funny, I heard all of their words and even I haven’t got a clue what the hell he meant by that. I asked him just that in our last e mail exchange and his only reply was, “What I meant by that. You should get back in the game Dad. By your words you will know what I meant by that. By your words you will know the words of yours Dad.”, followed by a “smiley face” icon. Why am I surprised? Even as a kid he was a little odd. Maybe I should ask his mother, huh? She always seemed to have a way with him. BTW, If you see him please ask him to call home. If he just keeps repeating, “I’ll call home.”, take him by the hand and lead him to a pay phone. That’s the only thing that seems to work when he gets like this. Ask him for the number. He’ll find it written on a crumpled piece of paper in his pants pocket. Just to be safe you’d better dial it for him. You know, maybe now that I won’t have this show to watch anymore, I will get back in the game. Maybe it’s time you all should too. Thanks.

Regards, John Sr.

Richard Ewing Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 8:30 am

It would be a travesty to pull this show off the air - The most engaging show I’ve ever watched.

If this show gets canceled, so does my HBO subscription.

Dara Cassidy Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 11:28 am

I am just beginning to understand (I think) this show!!
I can’t wait each week to be a little more confused, and a little more enlightened by this show.

Is it canceled because it makes you think? Because all of the messages are not blatantly spelled out for you?

God forbid we use our brains when we watch a show. This show was unlike any other show I’ve ever seen on T.V.

It’s like poetry, there’s meaning to what is said, but more to what is implied, and what it means to you personally.

Please bring it back!!

Ivan Petrovich Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 11:43 am

I can’t believe it. I watched this show every week, hoping I would get that one thing that would make it all seem logical. My partner thought it was strange, I agreed, but still watched. I only kept HBO after the Soprono’s because of my interest in this show. Strange or not, I still want to hear the words of John’s father…. I guess its time to cancel, since I can hear the words of my father saying “why pay for something you can’t use”…

Dan Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 2:11 pm

With the departure of “Sopranos”, the cancellation of “John” and possibly “Deadwood”, There isn’t much that interests me on HBO. In turn I’ve cancelled HBO until I hear otherwise.

Aleister Wilson Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 2:34 pm

A vote to bring it back. HBO, you don’t have to give it a good timeslot, hide it back in the pack, but let David Milch play out his vision. Maybe the show needs to play out fully to get the full Messiah effect (see my notes in the comments blog), with Kai in the Mary role, and the new Messiah sheorhe 7 years old in 2014 and starting his public preaching. Wouldn’t that be fun to watch, and advertise to your HBO audience. HBO, get back in the game.

Tilly Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 2:41 pm

In Canada, we view HBO shows over The Movie Channel (and sometimes, Bravo!). I made a point of subscribing to Movie Channel on Demand for the express purpose of watching “JFC” many times, for this program’s richness is enhanced by multiple viewings. Please resucitate “JFC” — it was brainy summer TV with oddball charm and sophistication.

“John” has been one of the most engaging serials that our family has been witness to in a long time. It was one of the few that we, as a family, watched faithfully AND together! If, by pulling this show, your intention was to “leave us wanting more”, you have succeeded. Consider the fact that we tuned in to watch each episode at least three times each week to digest the dialogue, character interactions, and Mr. Monad’s role… that it actually caused our family to discuss a wide variety of topics from religion to E.T.s to surfing as we waded through the labyrinth of each episode…
There has got to be more… and we want it!

April Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 5:34 pm

Ok, seriously. What are they thinking at HBO - taking it off before we have any idea what is going on in the show. At least give it a second season and if you see it’s going no where still, then wrap it up and end it proper. Let the JFC fans know what is going on. Apparently by this uproar, there are more fans that what HBO thought. I have seen all the shows and am hooked - don’t take it away now. Please.

MissionFigs Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 7:47 pm

I never really “got into” the Sopranos. Maybe I’d spent enough of my life in North Jersey not to find much about the characters interesting. Then, Deadwood came along to stop me from cancelling HBO. After that got shut down, I became intrigued enough with the promos for JFC to hang in there and give the show a try. Wow! Best thing ever on tv. It didn’t matter I didn’t really get what was going on, but it was sure fun being focused on trying to figure out where it was going. I am beyond disappointed JFC has been cancelled and am now, once again, back at the point of dumping HBO.

I am a shepherd without a crook…I will be murdered twice…every promise I ever made, I f**king broke…Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ…

DRAGONLADY0606 Says:

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT HBO IS CANCELING JFC, YET THE CONCHORDS (OR WHATEVER THAT THING IS CALLED REMAINS? WHY DOES HBO FEEL THE NEED TO CANCEL EVERYTHING WORTH WATCHING? THE ONLY REASON I HAVE HBO IS TO WATCH THIS SHOW. NOW THAT JOHN IS GONE, I WILL BE GONE SOON TOO!!!

John Straub Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 8:04 pm

I didn’t start watching The Sopranos until the 3rd year and Deadwood until the 2nd year. John probably would have picked up more viewers in the 2nd year. I have read comments from the critics but I rarely like things critics like. I was really looking forward to the second season. Now I have to look forware to Milch’s next series.

lulu Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 8:39 pm

The Internet is big; 9-11 is big; I used to think HBO was big, especially when its bigshots took a courageous chance on David Milch’s passion play.

Now I’m not so sure.

Prove me wrong, bigshots. Bring John From Cincinnati back from the dead. Only you have the power.

Marilyn Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 10:06 pm

Intelligent Television. A Rubic’s cube with incredible acting and challenging enough to stay with the viewer after the credits rolled. The thinking public says, “Bring it back.”

Bryan Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 10:26 pm

BRING IT BACK…

HBO can suck it if not. Only thing left is Entourage, and one half hour show isnt enough to keep the subscribtion.

Brant Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 10:37 pm

I will cancel my HBO subscription if they do not bring this back. Ed O’Neil was brilliant and deserves an Emmy nomination. The strangeness kept me coming back, I wanted to see what happened next.

Joe K. Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 10:59 pm

I heard about this today and was very surprised. I really urge the exec’s to rethink this decision because there are not many shows that make you think so much. I hold out hope because I think Big Love was being cancelled at one time but they reversed that decision. We can hope, right?

Roland Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 11:26 pm

9-11-14, for this show being dusted shouldnt be an issue, it was great, shaun should not be gone, john should not be gone, we all want to see cincinnati, and deserve to, this show was all of the big and huge which john made it out to be, the words on the wall should have written to HBO to bring this season back, unfortunetaly HBO has dusted all of us

Stacie Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 11:28 pm

Canceled!?? Nooooooooooooooo!!! I love that show!!

Kouzgondeh Says:
August 16th, 2007 at 11:58 pm

I never watched the Sopranos or Sex in the City due to their subject matter. I don’t particulary care for amoral people or shows that glorify their lifestyles and thus reinforce such behavior in the conscious of our society.

John from Cincinnati was different than anything to ever come along due to its depth and approch to metaphysics. Kinda like the Twilight Zone meets a deconstructed Beach Blanket Bingo. The characters seemed real to me (maybe notsome of their actions such as the miraculous stuff)from my experiences among surfers, skaters, and dealers in my past pre domestic days.

I had begun to watch the other shows featured on HBOs Sunday night lineup after tuning in to see JFC. I will cancel my subscription out of spite and swear off HBO for not having the nads to continue with JFC if its return is in fact missing this fall.

Anthony Says:
August 17th, 2007 at 9:03 am

Rome, Deadwood, now this…Wake up HBO! There is still a sizable population of adults in this country who enjoy intelligent programming.

Joan Says:
August 17th, 2007 at 11:56 am

This show was the only thing I bothered to watch all week. I have longed for a show with some complexity that pushed me to make my own assumptions rather than spoon-feeding me trite conversations and ridiculous gag lines.
JFC drew me in with wonderful filming The surf scenes are fabulous!) and compelling characters so much that I would watch it a second and third time just looking for clues to support my conclusions.
The only reason I have cable is to wacth what I expect to be cutting edge HBO shows that push the envelope. That is what makes HBO, HBO in my mind. If this show is dropped I will need to reconsider that investment since it appears HBO executives don’t appreacite the audicne they have cultivated.

Are you kidding me. Sure it took a little time to get into but I’m totally hooked. JFC is well crafted and I can’t say enough about the acting. If HBO drops this show I’m hanging by a thread with Entourage. I don’t have HBO for the boxing or same movies that air constantly!! You still have “Big Love” going. Give “John” a better chance!!

HBO, while it is composed of many people, is itself the Home Box Office, which does not go through any life processes and thus cannot dump. So, that must mean that HBO isn’t an asshole, and shall bring back JFC.

Madison Says:

This travesty is just another example of HBO’s total disregard for it’s subscribers. How can I continue to follow new series with the constant threat of the Coporate axe falling on what I have become to love? It’s time we all stop making false threats and cancel this Network until they start actually showing some appreciation for our money. Bring back JFC, it’s not our fault the pea brain masses didn’t get it…..

Those of you that say things like “I don’t get it, it’s too hard to understand….blah, blah, blah…..SHUT YOUR MOUTHS and OPEN UP YOUR MINDS!!! When shows that actually make you think, beyond the time that you are not watching it, are excellent for the mind. Don’t be so damn brain lazy. I noticed a couple of people were thinking maybe Showtime would be smart enough to grab this phenomenon so I just sent Showtime an email as follows:

WHY NOT PICK UP JFC? IT WOULD FIT RIGHT IN WITH DEXTER, WHICH I LOVE. I’VE BEEN ON A COUPLE OF SAVE JFC BLOGS AND SHOWTIME KEEPS COMING UP AS A PERFECT ALTERNATIVE SINCE HBO STUPIDLY CANCELLED IT. ANYWAY, YOU COULD HAVE EVIL DEXTER ON THE EAST COAST DOING HIS MISCHIEF, AND JOHN ON THE WEST COAST DOING GOOD. THINK ABOUT IT.

Maybe some of you could do the same. I don’t know if it will mean anything but the internet is huge.

JFC was a wonderful way to wrap up the weekend. i’ve watched each episode twice and was planning a 3rd viewing, since during each second viewing i noticed new details that seemed to be important. i’m not impressed by the critics who anaylized JFC, picking it apart and tossing it around. allow the viewers to think for themselves, and by the comments i’ve read here, we viewers are thinking quite well for ourselves. “work from the heart” HBO, and renew JFC!

Gina Says:

I was very disappointed, when I learned that John F Cin had been canceled.

Each week, I made sure that I watched it and most weeks, I watched it 2-3 times. The show required that the audience actually think about the dialogue. Most TV viewers are looking for nothing more than killing and fluff.

If they do not want to continue to run this series on a long term basis, I wish they would come back for a few more episodes so that we can get some ends tied up.

What is up with HBO? I’ve been a loyal subscriber to HBO via Comcast (Portland, Ore.) and Adelphia (Los Angeles) for over eight years, and I’m sick of HBO cancelling unfinished shows. Carnivale, Deadwood, and now John from Cincinnati. I don’t know why HBO can’t give these types of shows a better chance–I think the execs just want total smash successes out of the gate within the first season, but hey, the world doesn’t work that way any more! We have PVRs, Tivos, DVD releases, and so on. We don’t watch TV the same these days, HBO. I only started to watch John from Cincinnati this past week with Comcast On Demand, and I watched the whole first season in about four nights. HBO, do you know why I only watched the first season after it aired? My first baby daughter was born this summer, that’s why! Maybe you should take into consideration THAT portion of your aging demographic too, when it comes to why it might take more time for a new show to gain momentum. You’ve disappointed me, HBO. I don’t know if I’ll give ANY new series from you another chance–maybe it’s time to switch my subscription dollars over to Showtime.

John From Cincinatti was one of the most interesting and poetic shows on Television. HBO needs to bring it back. It is the middle of the Summer and everyone is busy. If they re-air it in the Winter I guarantee the ratings would sky rocket. BRING BACK JOHN FROM CINCINATTI!!!!

How can HBO ever expect new shows to develop a large audience when they don’t even give them time to catch on. There is so much garbage on now and JFC is so intelligent and refreshing. First Deadwood now JFC. Viewers are going to stop investing their emotions and time in watching HBO shows for fear they will be cancelled everytime we really get attached.

My husband and I looked forward to Sunday night viewing of JFC. It is an amazing show which provoked wonder, in additon to entertainment. We were surprized to hear it was not popular, in fact most of our friends and family watched it, and we shared various ideas about its direction and meaning. I am cynical as to why it was cancelled–its ratings were too low? HBO has been known for innovative programing which is why we are a subscriber. I am disappointed that the ratings game were behind there decision in this.

JFC was HBO’s last chance. Too many great shows tossed down the tubes from over-paid idiots who obviously do not know their customers. The name John from Cincinnati may have not been the most appealing name for this show, but the writing, and the acting can not be touched. Once people give this show a chance, I am positive that they will love it as much as all the people I have gotten to watch it. We even have friends over just to watch the show on sunday nights. It always sparks great debates and conversation. A show that makes people think in a world of american idol and next top model is a waste to see thrown away. JFC is priceless and I just don’t think I will forgive HBO for this one. I am still hurt over Carnivale. Screw me once.. shame on you.. Screw me twice… Shame on me… Aint happening again. If I don’t hear in the next couple months that this is being reconsidered, HBO IS GONE!!!!!

Jamie Johnson Says:

Dear HBO,
I have been a subscriber for more years than I can remember and have always enjoyed the vast majority of any series you air. I was bummed after The Sopranos ended and my fiance and I both wondered what the hell we were going to watch after the series finale. Then came John. I was skeptical at first but it caught my attention. Then it was a new ritual in our house to make sure we either watched John every Sunday or DVRed it if we weren’t going to be home in time. Now, I’m annoyed. The decision to cancel John From Cincinnati was a poor one. I was excited after the season finale and told my fiance I couldn’t wait for the next season. I even went so far as to say that HBO rarely cancels a series after one season, so we should at least have another season, or at worst a few more episodes to entertain us. Unfortunately, the next day, the show was canceled. I’m wondering why I’m subscribing still, as there isn’t another show currently running and producing new episodes that I’m interested in watching. For Pete’s sake, you let Sex in the City go for how many seasons? Sheesh. I am seriously considering dropping HBO from my cable subscription as I don’t see the point in paying the extra money to keep it when there is rarely a movie on that I actually watch. I was will to shell out the extra $$ in order to keep John available for viewing. Now? Not so much. Every episode was well written and well filmed. After each one ended my fiance and I would sit there speculating as to what the hell was going on and anxious to see the next episode. My television is lonely and weeping. Bring John From Cincinnati back. Show that there is at least some intelligence left in television programming.

Patricia Silverlake Says:

Each of the characters comes with passion second to none. Bill’s monologues, to Butchie’s impatience to Cissy tirades kept me coming back week after week. Why cancel the show? Don’t tell me “I don’t know Butchie Instead.” This could be a classic. Allow it to play its course….

I believe 10 episodes is absolutely not enough time for shows like this to catch on with viewers. It’s a different type of show. It’s not fair to throw away the show so quickly. Nothing has been answered, all it’s done is anger viwers. HBO should know better. It shows us they only think of ratings and their pocket.

Johnny Says:
August 20th, 2007 at 4:32 pm

I’m tired of in-depth and well written shows being dismissed and ultimatly cancelled cause too many pop-culture robots lack the brain activity to enjoy a show that doesn’t revolve around cheesy plot twists, sex and violence. PLEASE GIVE us another season, at least to provide some closure.

Gina Says:
August 20th, 2007 at 4:34 pm

I started paying to watch HBO because of the Sopranos and like everyone else who was an avid watcher of the show, when it ended all I could think was that nothing could replace it. But it was replaced….and replaced by something magnificent, enthralling and completely amazing. Like most, it took me becoming totally engulfed to really understand it and catch on and often times I said, “it’s so strange, but I love it!” JFC is one of the most amazing shows I have ever watched. It touched me to the core and made me feel that the world was really changing and in a positive spiritual direction. I loved the fact that I would have to rewind and rewatch to pick up on things that I had missed. Thank God for a show that actually makes you think! I was just discussing with my husband the fact that I would not wait to buy the season and how I wait with breathless anticipation for the new season to begin. And then I hear this?? Please let this show live. The characters are exquisitely drawn. The dialogue is mesmerizing. I imagine this is as ultimate an experience for the actors as it is for those of us who understand what a gift this series is. HBO was my refuge from mundane television. Sometimes with a show with this much character it takes a bit of time to catch on, but when it does it becomes a classic!! People for years to come will chant “I don’t know Butchie instead” and we all want to hear what John’s father has to say. HBO, if you say good bye to JFC, I say good bye to you. PLEASE don’t let it die.

Rita Says:

HBO don’t give up on John yet - Shows like JFC are the reason many of us pay the extra money to our cable and dish monopolies to get HBO in the first place. JFC makes the viewer think, so even through we might be planted on the couch we are still working out at least one vital part of our body. Without JFC my money might have to switch over to Showtime as their line-up continues to get better and better. Maybe a Showtime or even USA network or TNT should look to pick this little gem up…..

Rick Says:
August 20th, 2007 at 6:32 pm

I came online searching for some public opinion or well-written plot interpretations from fellow viewers only to find out that HBO canceled “John From Cincinnati” immediately following it’s first season finale. Now, I’m disgusted. I really enjoyed the show and watched every episode faithfully. Great writing, vividly etched characters and an intriguing plot line that did not tie every episode up in a bow. HBO has nurtured so many great television shows that I have begun to expect the unlikely: A network that allows new shows the time and chance to find an audience and for story lines to reach satisfying conclusions. This show has just reached a fever pitch and those of us that were engaged are now primed for what was to come, a total revelation of John’s ultimate purpose and the reason he selected the Yost family to “work” through. By canceling before that could happen, HBO has made fools of us all for watching in the first place. I offer that HBO should at least have the decency to wrap this story up in a satisfactory way for the viewers they did manage to engage, before the excellent cast that had been assembled is no longer available to do so. As a long time subscriber I think my opinion should count for that much. Thanks.

Patrick Says:
August 20th, 2007 at 8:16 pm

John from Cincinnati was a daring look at subatomic physics’ power of intention in action. From the man to god-man point of view it almost made perfect sense and the almost aspect made it worth watching to see what would happen next. The story made winners out of losers, bad guys into good guys and gave the out of touch/out of sorts bit players of the cast the means to land on their feet or levitate.
This is the second out on a limb series HBO has cancelled without ending the story. Carnivale was the first breach of trust that left me dissatisfied with the programming executives, and they’ve done it again with John from Cincinnati. Final word. HBO’s inability to follow through makes my investing my time and attention better spent on other cable offering. I am cancelling my HBO subscription. If you are as disappointed as I am cancel HBO and sent a message that counts right in the pocketbook.

I had to at least vent for myself and email this note to HBO… it made me feel a teeny weeny bit better:

I have signed the petitions, i have bantered about with others on the web, and even if this remotely passes by an interns eyes, it will still make me feel better to directly express my sadness and disgust at the narrow vision HBO programming has been guilty of now.

You dont even HAVE a John From Cincinatti option on this page to submit queries for shows? If it was so bad, why bother airing it? Why bother trying to actually tap into an intelligent sector of TV viewers, mining for people who have the mental and emotional capacity to handle this show, only to destroy them after one measly SUMMER season?

How much could it possibly cost to respect your subscribers enough to at least give Milch and Nunn the chance to tell their story through another season? First Carnivale, then Deadwood, now JFC.

I used to tell people if I had to choose between the 500 channels on cable and HBO, I would take HBO. But the recent choices made by your suits and superiors have shown that it IS JUST TV… not anything more special than that.

To cut a show, any show off at the knees after one season, especially one that lends itself to more developed human beings as viewers is a shame. I can only wonder what is next for HBO programming.

Your recent choices as of late have me thinking… reality show?

Sincerely, sadly, and questioning ny subscription,
(JFC) Jason from Chicago

This show deserves another season! It would be a crime to leave everyone hanging. It was very entertaining.

this show is destined to be as huge as the sopranos given a chance. it would be a shame to see john go back to cincinnati when we so desperately need him here.

I just read there were 3 million viewers of last episode. Whats wrong with that and where are they when we need them to complain!!?? If they can get that many viewers during the SUMMER why not give it another chance?!! How dare HBO drop something with all these unanswered questions after 3 million people invested all that time!!! I heard Chris Albrect green-lighted JFC and we know what happened to him. Maybe he was the only one there with any real feel for good TV and this was not good TV, but great as evidenced by the dialog on these posts. I think they let go of something phenomenal.

I am deeply saddened that HBO canceled JFC. Sunday night was my favorite night of the week and JFC was the reason. With such an incredible cast and such enthralling storylines I have no idea why HBO would pull the plug now. I thought that HBO tried to market its series as unconventional but ones that could be appreciated by intelligent audiences. JFC was truly both of those things and I desperately want the series to continue.

I think that those who did not appreciate John From Cincinnati were just too lazy to delve deeper. The program required the viewer to think a little more than the mainstream HBO program, The Soprano’s, Big Love, even Six Feet Under don’t require a great deal of thought, all of the work is done for us. There is nothing wrong with raising the bar. Come on HBO, blaze some trails.

It was such an immense pleasure to get caught up in something as unique as JFC. The locale, imagery and landscape was completely new and I found myself getting caught up in its world. The completely disfunctional qualities of the characters was refreshing. Rebeccas de Mornay and Ed O’Neill performances were just stunning. I crave the show like a great song you just want to listen to over and over again. Thanks, HBO, for putting something as refreshing as this on. Please give it a try for at least one more season!

I also feel like I have lost a friend - a bunch of them in fact. I have read some comments about Greyson’s acting abilities and I thought he depicted a teenage surfer perfectly! My 14 year old grandson resembles “Shaunie” quite a bit (or vice versa) and speaks sheepishly as well. What the heck else were people watching in that time slot before ‘entourage’ that they didn’;t tune in to JFC? They certainly stuck around for FOTC enough for hbo to renew that piece of drivel. FOTC was much harder to follow and not nearly as engaging as JFC.

HBO should get back in the game! I loved all those catchy phrases that John came up with that inspired other catchy phases from the rest of the cast. I find myself starting to say “I don’t know Butchie instead” when I am at a loss. “I DON’T KNOW BUTCHIE INSTEAD”! Why did HBO CANCEL JFC???

I’ve already posted my plea to continue JFC for the all same reasons that everyone before me has, however, I feel the need to reinforce, that JFC is an amazing piece of work. I am watching the entire season now for the 3rd time and I am even more impressed than the first time. The show just gets better and better with each viewing. The cast is incredible, especially Brian Van Holt. He’s portrayal of Butchie Yost is amazing. He deserves an Emmy. Hopefully, those who recognize great talent, will see his work on JFC and open up opportunties for him in diversified roles. Its nothing short of crime to have cancelled JFC without so much as second season (which many shows need). I would delight in another season of JFC, so we can enjoy more Butchie and the rest of the Yost clan.
